JUNE 2021 WE CARE WEDNESDAY

Hey, y'all, it's PRIDE month! But let's be honest, it's PRIDE every damn day at gather here. gather here is queer-owned and proud to employ queer craft specialists. We always strive to be our true selves, living our complicated realities within the craft community - highlighting other queer makers and finding ways to disrupt assumptions about fiber craft. In June we're fundraising for BAGLY, the Boston Alliance of LGBTQ+ Youth. BAGLY was formed in 1980 and is a youth-led, adult-supported organization committed to social justice, and creating, sustaining and advocating for programs, policies and services for the LGBTQ+ youth community....

MAY 2021 WE CARE WEDNESDAY

Celebrate and support Cambridge School Volunteer(CSV) during their month-long event. Founded in 1966, Cambridge School Volunteers (CSV) is an independent non-profit organization supporting the academic and personal success of Cambridge public school children. CSV develops programs which match caring and competent adults with students of all needs and levels. We are pleased to be participating in their month-long celebration which culminates with a community-building event featuring textile artist Diana Weymar of the Tiny Pricks Project. Showcase and honor the work of teachers, tutors, mentors and classroom volunteers by creating your own expression of gratitude as a flag or other fiber arts...

APRIL 2021 WE CARE WEDNESDAY

We have mentioned this on Instagram, Twitter, and our newsletter: gather here was created by and owned/operated by a multi-racial Filipina American. We also employ three other Asian Americans. We learned about the National Network of Abortion Funds when our friend and crafter-of-all-things, Lesley, participated in a Bowl-A-thon fundraiser with her team, the Ruth Bowler Ginsburgs, for Missouri Abortion...

FEBRUARY 2021 WE CARE WEDNESDAY

Shannon Downey (also known as Badass Cross Stitch) posted about her vision to build a national cohort of craftivists across the country by developing the country’s first craftivist-in-residence programs. She announced that the first will launch in the fall of 2021 at one of our favorite museums, Fuller Craft, in Brockton, Massachusetts. But to make this really come to life they are currently seeking funding. And that's where we come in. This February our We Care Wednesday initiative will be for the CIR program at Fuller Craft. We know that you all are just as passionate about craftivism as we...
