December 2023 - We Care Wednesday

Remember when Twitter was *the place* to find out if you'd just experienced an earthquake or if there was a flyover to open Fenway Park but you were the last to know? It was also a place where you could find people doing really amazing work and writing about it. We connected with artists and craftspeople all over the world, we joined conversations about public transit and affordable housing, and we went viral for an evening for using swear words while discussing the Vice Presidential debates. It's also where we found invaluable resources in 2020 and until that very rich...

November 2023 - We Care Wednesday

Knitting pattern designer and educator, Tiffany Wong, reached out to us to inquire about any available We Care Wednesday spots for the fall of 2023. Did you know that 75% of MAAP's funding comes from direct donations by people like you? We encourage you to make a direct donation on top of choosing to pick up your craft supplies on...

September 2023 - We Care Wednesday

In May of 2023, Sarah Dudek created a beautiful print in response to the ongoing attacks on Trans Rights across the country. We bought one of the prints for the store and were thrilled to participate in a community printing event of Sarah's art in June benefiting the Trans Emergency Fund of Massachusetts.   Sarah Dudek's Instagram post put it so well, "Gender is hard. Not for everyone, but for some of us. And for a lot of kids, it just got much harder. Please, please, lend a hand to fight for Trans Rights. Listen. Be a safe space for...

August 2023 - We Care Wednesday

Natasha, a volunteer at Black Cat Rescue, a local non-profit rescue group based in Somerville, reached out to us to see if we would consider Black Cat Rescue as a We Care Wednesday recipient. If you know us (and that means pretty much the entire gather here team) then you know how much we LOVE cats. Can you blame us? They are far superior animals to humans that's for sure. Did you know that black cats are only half as likely to get adopted as cats of other colors? BCR's all-volunteer network of foster homes is dedicated to saving the...
